Depending on your source, you can get multiple answers for what is in a cigar. Sometimes, you can get general terms that are not always accurate. Saying a light wrap is a Connecticut when it is from Ecuador . Usually this will not harm expectations, depending on the crowd.
I try and be as accurate as possible, looking at multiple sources to find out what is in a particular smoke. Sometimes, I get it wrong. I do not mind feedback on that, just show your source if you can (not that I am picky about that).
A good rule of thumb is the darker, the stronger. This is not always true, but for more than 90% of cigars, it is.
With flavored cigars, such as ACID, tasting the underlying tobacco past the flavor can be tough. If you can't do it, don't worry. I don't. With certain fillers, certain taste buds pick up certain things. It is good to consult with a friend, or a fellow cigar smoker (hopefully both), to see if they notice anything. Sometimes hearing about it turns your brain to look for it. That can help you out.
